Behind the pack, but coming on strong: Clark.

College is staring down the barrel of the gun, and it has us in its sites. Clark is halfway through his junior year. He has aspirations of colleges whose admissions standards exceed his homework-turning-in standards. But we have a plan. A good one, that is subject to change 🙂

You know, when I read your writings about Clark, I’m often stricken by a sort of fierce determination that is lying under the cloak of the other stuff. I’m sure it is incredibly hard to see when you are trying to get him going in the morning, or getting him to remember to take his “PED” or turn in his homework, or DO his homework, but this debate thing always seems to bring out something bigger, something stronger. Something that he’s going to hold onto to overcome the rest.

My son is the same age – just took the SAT on Saturday. I guess this whole finishing high school and looking onto college is going to happen whether I’m ready or not! 🙂

Clark actually won the debate tournament (with his partner, in Cross Ex) this last weekend, which is a big step. He has now qualified for state with 2 different partners this school year, so luckily this one can go (the other one had a conflict, which is what necessitated the requalification). I think he has a real strength there, and it will serve him well. Meanwhile, he is failing 4 classes.

Good luck on the SAT this weekend!

It’s crunch time. Prepping the cabin for its first paid visitors, who are coming to view the 96.4% eclipse from our deck. Finishing Stunner. Getting my keynote ready for Killer Nashville. And…helping Eric up after a pretty good tumble from his 17-hand Feathers. Luckily, Eric chose the dismount himself, so he landed on his side [... […]
