Anybody looking for a low paying but highly appreciated job as a personal assistant? LOL. I’m drowning, and it’s awesome.

Purely gratuitous Petey pic: the prince and the pea

In no particular order, here’s the good stuff:

Because Saving Grace is doing so well, I decided to go ahead and spend all the money it’s made so far. I signed on for a really exciting blog tour from January through March with Dorothy Thompson’s Pump Up Your Book, and for a video book trailer. During the blog tour, we’re giving away a . . . wait for it . . . KINDLE FIRE! Watch for announcements. I also signed on with publicist Paula Margulies. Paula distributed press releases tonight:

Super cool! Next she starts booking me to speak, do media and hold events (readings, signings).

Hastings Entertainment added three stores to our roster in Texas. Please tell them we sent you if you shop at the College Station, Conroe, and Lubbock stores. Of course, they already had us in Stephenville, Canyon, and all the Amarillo stores. So far, each time we sell out a store, they’ve given us another. Get your shopping shoes on, friends 🙂

November is lovely in Houston. I wrote outside Monday until the mosquitoes drove me in at dusk.

We had planned to do KDP Select ebook (Kindle) exclusive with Amazon through January, but it turned out that Apple iBooks hadn’t taken SG down, and Amazon won’t let you continue if you’re not exclusive, so they booted SG. Wellllll, that didn’t break my heart. We decided to re-list SG as an ebook literally every-freakin-where. So look for it to appear on Smashwords, Omnilit, iBooks, Kobo, Diesel, Sony, Barnes & Noble, and many more!

We worked out most of the kinks on the re-release of the re-titled How to Screw Up Your Marriage: Do-Over Tips for First Time Failures, fka Love Gone Viral. We think it will be more obvious now that it is a second marriage companion to How to Screw Up Your Kids, my stepparenting book. So far only the Kindle version is live, but we hope to have the paperback available under the new title in two weeks. Thanks, cover artist/writer/librarian/friend Heidi Dorey for squeezing that little job in. She’s hard at work on the cover for Leaving Annalise now, too.

We set loose secret shoppers this week in East Texas and Tennessee. Want to help me out? Email

Eric scoped more stores in Austin, Dallas, and LA. Have a favorite store you’d like to see us in? Send the info to

Saturday Eric is doing the Gulf Coast Federation of Writers at Houston Baptist University while I do a Local Author Event at River Oaks Bookstore. But Sunday…Sunday we do Nowheresville and the Cardinals on the NFL Network, shotguns, and T-R-A-C-T-O-R.

Meanwhile, I’m writing like crazy. My wonderful editor Meghan put me to work on new scenes for Leaving Annalise. It’s been a lot of fun, but I am dizzy from what feels like a 5-day sit-spin.

Don’t ask me about working out. Eric and I pow-wow’ed and decided that it needs to wait until I turn my book back in to Meghan.

But I’m not complaining. This is the best kind of problem to have.

Love and light,

p.s. Be first to hear about new book releases, 1-2 times a year (don't worry, I won't use your email for anything else)! <-- click here

      🙂 Thanks, my friend. I just want you to know Eric and I remember you every day when I put on his moisturizer — we still have some left from all that you sent us!

    I finally got over to this blog and noticed the reply to Nan, funny because I had just gone over to her site and left her a message for her to know I also am thinking about how nice she is to us.

    Vidya too, you are awesome.

    And Jenny, I dont know you as well but Pamela says you are awesome too.

    Yay for a blog tour! Let me know if you need anyone else to join in, I’d be more than happy to join. And can I just say how incredibly jealous I am of your ability to write OUTSIDE all day. :-p The Ohio weather hasn’t been fit for much of anything outside lately. {lol}

    It sounds like whirlwind of success! 🙂
    I just finished Saving Grace on the Kindle app on my phone of all things. Of course I have the app on my macbook pro, too, but I ended up using the phone. (I need to add a Kindle to my Christmas list) And THEN I bought the paperback for a friend for Christmas.

    If by “seasons” you mean: cold/snow, 100°/rain and our other 2 seasons known as: orange cone construction season. Just to be clear, “Orange Cone” seasons fall back-to-back between snow & rain. So we have Snow, Cones, Cones, Rain, Snow…you get the idea. ODOT believes in LOTS of construction, which never gets us any where both literally and figuratively speaking. 😉 I’ll take your weather. Wanna trade? 🙂

  8. I would totally be your personal assistant if I could. I bet we would have so much fun together. Maybe too much fun.

  9. Lizze Gorski says:

    I’d take the giant bugs over never ending construction too. 😉 Although they can be pretty against the bright white snow, until it’s driven on and becomes slush…yeah, it’s great in NE Ohio. {lol}

    I mentioned last week that I am into the tactile when it comes to grounding myself in character. I’ve worn a big ass, bold labradorite ring while writing Maggie (below). For Michele, I wore a diaphanous white linen gown. Katie was all about yellow and pink “sleepy sheep” pajamas. For Ava, I wore a triskelion [... […]
